Abstract
1,199,455. Stop motions. SCHWIETER ENG. WORKS Ltd. 23 Nov., 1967 [25 Nov., 1966], No. 53406/67. Heading D1D. An automatic yarn winding machine having a plurality of winding stations 3 each including a yarn monitoring device 7 is controlled so that a signal is delivered to a storage apparatus in response to a monitored yarn disturbance at one of the winding stations 3. The stored signal is evaluated in the storage apparatus and the winding station is stopped and a yarn disturbance removal apparatus is prevented from operating when the stored signal reaches a threshold value. As shown, yarn F is wound from cop 4, over ballon breaker 5, yarn brake 6, yarn cleaner 7, waxing apparatus 8, stop bracket 9, grooved drum 10 to bobbin 11. During normal winding turret 2 together with winding stations 3 rotate, thereby periodically closing switch 13 (contact 13′ in Fig. 3). If a yarn rupture occurs measuring cell 17 of the yarn cleaner 7 causes relay 20 to open contact 22 and close contact 21. Additionally the malfunctioning winding station is brought into operable association with the yarn disturbance removal apparatus (not shown) and arrested. The winding stations are then rotated again and switch 13 (contact 13′) is closed ‘by stationary cam 14. If the yarn rupture has been repaired the cleaner 7 will have opened contact 21 and closed contact 22. However, if the knotting operation has failed or the yarn breaks again contact 21 is closed and contact 22 is opened. In this case, capacitor 24 is charged from current source 25 (contact 13’ still being closed) and the disturbance removal apparatus operated again. This procedure may be repeated up to say three times, the capacitor being charged each time the rupture is not repaired. After the three attempts capacitor 24 discharges through trigger switch 27 causing lamp 15 to light and relay 31 to stop the relevant winding station. The yarn defect is then repaired manually. If the yarn has been automatically repaired before capacitor 24 operates trigger 27, the closed contact 22 discharges capacitor 27 through resistor 29. Cam 14 and switch 13, which form a checking path of the rotating turret, can be replaced by magnetically operated switches to close switch 13″, see Fig. 3. Capacitor 24 can be replaced ‘by an inductance or electromagnetic – ally operated spring. Relay 20 of the yarn cleaner can be operated by means of stop bracket 9.
