Abstract
1,199,877. Rear view mirrors. SOC. COMMERCIALE DU COMPTOIR DES INVENTIONS PRATIQUES POUR L’AUTOMOBILE. 28 June, 1968 [7 July, 1967], No. 31023/68. Heading B7J. A vehicle rear view mirror assembly, constructed in one piece and made of resilient plastics material, comprises a casing A, hinged by a constriction B 1 to a frame A 2 which is adapted to hold a prismatic reflector assembly 1, 2, 3, and a lever A 3 is hinged by a constriction B 2 to the frame so that when assembled as shown in Fig. 1, it is pivotable on the easing by journal portions 4 resiliently engaged in bearings 5 of the casing with constricted entrances, so that the two hinges B 1 , B 2 and the pivot form a knee joint whereby the lever and frame are held in either one of two preferred positions with respect to the casing, with either of lever facets 6 and 7 abutting the frame, due to the resilience of the material. The prismatic reflector assembly comprises either two reflective elements 1 and 2, of plain glass and glass silvered on one side 2a, respectively, or a prismatic block similarly silvered, held in a peripheral moulded sleeve 3 fixed in a groove in the frame A 2 so that the two frame positions enable either of the two reflecting elements 1 and 2 to be used for «night and day» driving, respectively. A bent rod with a ball for attachment to a vehicle is engaged, in a constricted groove and hole in the casing A Fig. 3 (not shown), and a peripheral flange 12 is provided on the frame A 2 to conceal the opening round the periphery of the casing A 1 .
