Abstract

1,205,624. Degreasing apparatus. UDDEHOLMS A.B. Nov. 9, 1967 [Nov. 14, 1966], No.51112/67. Heading C7E. A degreasing apparatus comprises a container 1 for a halogenated hydrocarbon such as trichlorethylene, tetrachlorethylene or trichloracetylene, a heating chamber 3 below the container, the chamber containing a liquid such as an aqueous solution of potassium acetate which is in contact with the botton of container 1, and heater 15 which heats the liquid, the chamber being connected via a liquid lock 18 to an expansion chamber and liquid supply 17. The trichlorethylene is heated by the liquid in chamber 3 and the vapour cleans the articles in zone 4. The vapour which flows over wall 1 is condensed by cooling tubes 5 and flows back via separator 7 to the boiling zone 2. A suction chamber 8 connected to a suction fan via 25 extends around the opening of the apparatus. A tube 23 has its lower end in the heating chamber 3 and its upper end open to atmosphere above the liquid level in expansion chamber 17. A thermostat 19 connected to relay 26 controls the water supply via 28 and thermostat 20 connected to relay 29 controls the current to heater 15. Thermostat 21 is also connected to relay 29 and switches off the current when the temperature exceeds 90‹ C.
