Abstract
1,213,384. Electronic counters. ASSOCIATED SEMICONDUCTOR MFRS. Ltd. 8 May, 1969 [16 Feb., 1968], No. 7758/68. Heading G4A. Each binary stage of a counter operating to a 4-phase system, Fig. 3, comprises three halfshift registers 3, 8, 10, inverters 4, 9, and logic circuits 5-7, 11. The half-shift registers 3 and 8, comprising M.O.S.’s 20-22 and 25-27, respectively, are controlled by phases Ï 1 and Ï 2, the input signal being stored on the gate capacitance of one of the M.O.S.’s. Similarly half-shift register 10 comprises 30-32 and is controlled by Ï 3 , Ï 4 . Inverters 4, 9 comprise pairs 23, 24 and 28, 29 controlled by Ï 2 . The charged capacitances are sensed by AND gates 5, 6, 11 comprising M.O.S.’s 33, 34; 35, 36; and 32, respectively by pulses Ï 3 , Ï 4 . The Boolean relationships in terms of potential are shown in Fig. 2. The state of the circuit as represented by the potential at E changes over at the completion of each cycle Ï 1 -Ï 4 . Read-out is effected at 2 and carry at 12.
