Abstract

1,223,925. Priming. ZENITH CARBURETTER CO. Ltd. Dec.3, 1969 [Dec.17, 1968], No.59964/68. Heading F1K . A device for supplying fuel to an internalcombustion engine for starting the engine from cold comprises a chamber 15 bounded on one side by a movable wall 17 thermo-sensitively controlled means 21 acting on the movable wall to permit enlargement of the volume of the chamber with decrease of temperature, means 10 to supply fuel to the chamber automatically as its volume increases, through a non-return valve 31, passage means 33 to connect the chamber to the induction system 35 of an engine, means dependent on the initiation of an engine starting operation to produce a thrust on the movable wall acting to move it so as to reduce the volume of the chamber and expel fuel therefrom into the engine induction system and valve means 38, 39 acting to close the passage means when the movable wall during its fuel expelling movement reaches a predetermined position. As shown when, after it has cooled, the engine is restarted the fuel pump generates pressure in the chamber 16 to displace the diaphragm 17 and force fuel from the chamber 15 into the induction system.
