Abstract

1,226,875. Solid/liquid/gas contact apparatus. NIPPON ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 1 April, 1968 [1 April, 1967], No. 15653/68. Heading B1F. A device for producing particles of ferrites, iron oxides or iron oxyhydrates by the gaseous oxidation of an aqueous liquid containing in suspension particles of metallic iron or ferrous compounds of less than 140 Á in particle size, comprises an upper vessel for containing aqueous solution, a lower gas chamber provided with an inlet pipe for gas, and a perforated plate between the vessel and the chamber having uniformly distributed holes, the thickness of said plate ranging from 0.1 to 1 cm, wherein the diameter of said holes is chosen from the range 0.1 to 0.6 cm, the pitch of said holes is chosen from the range 0.5 to 5.0 cms, and the height of said vessel is at least five times the diameter of said perforated plate.
