Abstract
1,232,158. Switch covers. CUTLERHAMMER Inc. 14 Aug., 1969 [14 Aug., 1968], No. 40674/69. Heading H1N. A toggle switch having a hollow insulating base 2 open at the top, a metal frame including a cover 4 and a bushing 6 extending from cover 4, a toggle lever 10 pivoted on pin 12 in bushing 6 includes means for sealing both toggle lever 10 to bushing 6 and cover 4 to base 2 comprising a resilient lever seal 16a surrounding toggle lever 10 and pivot pin 12 and hugging the inner wall of bushing 6, a resilient cover seal 16c forming a closed ridge compressed between cover 4 and base 2 and resilient means 16d connecting lever seal 16a and cover seal 16c. On the lower end of toggle lever 10 is an insulating contact actuator block 14, shown in dotted lines. Resilient lever seal 16a, cover seal 16c and resilient means 16d forms a one-piece member 16 composed of resilient insulating material such as silicon rubber and is moulded in place after pivot pin 12 has been inserted, a bonding agent being first applied to bond the silicon rubber to the metal frame. Member 16 covers the whole of the inside of cover 4. Cover 4 is secured to base 2 by rivets.
