Abstract
1,245,956. Friction clutches. SOC. ANON. DE VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D’EQUIPEMENTS MECANIQUES. 10 Dec., 1968 [10 Jan., 1968], No. 58728/68. Heading F2C. Input from a shaft 1 and a member 2 is transmitted through a clutch assembly 4, 11, 12 to an output shaft 7, pressure for the clutch plates 11, 12 being provided by compression springs 22. To disengage this clutch and engage a clutch assembly 3, 9, 17 to drive an output shaft 6, linkages 30-34 are operated as indicated at B, and a member 16 to which clutch plate 11 is connected is moved to the left, pressure on clutch disc 4 is thus relieved and, due to the springs 22, a clutch member 15 covering the clutch plate 17 is also moved leftwards and clutch disc 3 is engaged between the plates 9, 17 for drive to be transmitted to an output shaft 6. In a similar manner, by operating linkages 23-28, drive to the output shaft 7 may be disengaged, and drives to an output shaft 8 engaged through a clutch assembly 5, 10, 18. In Fig. 2 (not shown) one of the linkage systems for controlling the clutches is dispensed with. In Fig. 3, members 15a, 16a on which clutch plates lla, 12a are mounted, may be urged away from -each other by a linkage-controlled cam 42. As before, drive to the shaft 7 is disengaged when the shafts 6, 8 are driven. In Fig. 4 (not shown), there is provision for changing the drive to one or other of two output shafts.
