A metallic cylindrical container body 1, closed by a metallic, e.g. tin or aluminium, cover 2, has annular weakening notches 4, 5 surrounded by a plastics ring 3 situated between upper and lower shoulders of the body 1 to prevent inadvertent opening of the container. Removal of the ring 3 and exertion of downward pressure on the cover 2 ruptures the body 1 between the notches 4, 5. The container may be reclosed by the cover. The ring 3 has its ends joined by studs and sockets.
