Abstract
1,248,512. Valves. J. H. MERCIER. 10 July, 1969, No. 34856/69. Heading F2V. A charging valve has a closure member 16 guided by actuating stem 37 and biased by spring 17 such that a rib 42 thereon can engage seat 15 to a depth determined by projection 25. The seat is compressed between screwed body parts 13, 14 to an extent determined by a reinforcing washer 70 bonded around the seat. A reinforcing washer may be located in the seat bore to supplement or replace washer 70, and limit penetration of rib 42 into the seat. In other modifications, the washer 70 can be of angle- or U-form in section and of equal or less depth than the seat. Annular zones of the plane major faces of the seat may become embedded in grooves in parts 13, 14, either of which latter may have the male thread.
