Abstract
1,248,793. Liquid fuel. CITIES SERVICE OIL CO. 31 Dec., 1968 [2 Jan., 1968], No. 61817/68. Heading C5G. A fuel composition comprises a liquid hydrocarbon fuel, 0À01-2 wt. per cent of a Group IIA metal salt of an alkanoic acid and 0À05-5 wt. per cent of an ether. The fuel may be a jet fuel, heating fuel or gasoline, but is preferably a diesel fuel. Preferably the salt is of a C 4 -C 12 monoalkanoic acid’ branched in the α-position. The ether may be an aliphatic ether, cyclic ether, aromatic ether or the ether of a polyol, and is preferably the alkyl ether of a glycol. Additives used in the examples are barium 2-ethyl hexanoate and the monomethyl ether of ethylene glycol. The diesel fuel used contained a 1,1-dimethyl alkyl amine as antioxidant.
