Abstract
1,249,534. Data storage. ALMEX A.B. 27 Nov., 1969 [29 Nov., 1968], No. 58145/69. Heading G4C. Digits recorded serially by bit on complementary channels KA, KB of a magnetic tape are transferred parallel by bit to a recoder 41 via a register 28-31 into which bits are routed by gates 24-27 as a chain of stages 22 is advanced on detection of successive bits, the first stage 22 being set on detection of a control bit recorded in both channels KA, KB. AND gate 7 detects the control bit to successively trigger monostable circuits 10, 12, 14, signals D, E being used to reset the chain 22 and enter a 1 in the first stage 22. The trailing edge of the control bit produces signal F which shifts the 1 to the second stage 22 in preparation for the first bit. Successive bits are detected by OR gate 19 to provide the following shifting operation of chain 22. If any bit is missing in a digit the sixth stage 22 will not be set and read-out control will not be actuated. If a bit, other than a control bit, is recorded in both channels KA, KB, gate 15 sets error bi-stable 16.
