Abstract

1,251,947. Coated glass. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 March, 1970 [5 March, 1969], No. 9826/70. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C1] A glass article having a transparent heatreflecting film of doped indium oxide is obtained by forming the doped indium oxide film on the surface of the article and subsequently heating the article at a temperature of more than 300‹C., and less than the softening point of the glass for 5 to 15 minutes while the doped indium oxide is in contact with a gas atmosphere having a free oxygen content of from 10-2 to 10-4 volume percent, such as 2 x 10-3 to 10-4 volume percent. The atmosphere may be a mixture of oxygen and a rare gas or nitrogen and preferably the atmosphere can consist of a mixed gas such as 92 volume percent of nitrogen and 8 volume percent of hydrogen with the specified amount of oxygen. The treatment may be carried out after a normal anneal.
