Abstract
1,259,148. T.V. camera range finder. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. 24 Oct., 1969 [21 Dec., 1968], No. 52229/69. Heading H4D. In order to cause automatic focusing of a television camera, the lens thereof is linked with a pulsed laser radar and in order that the transmitted pulses shall not interfere with the television camera said pulses are either synchronized with the frame frequency of the camera and so timed that they fall within the flyback period, or can be blanked out, either optionally by means of a shutter rotating at frame frequency in front of the camera, or electronically by desensitizing the camera tube. The emitted radiation may be infra-red. In the case of a three colour field sequential camera, either the pulse is emitted during a field when the camera is not sensitive to its colour, or a fourth sequential field is provided during which the camera is desensitized.
