Abstract
1,262,003. Selective signalling. SVENSKA DATAREGISTER A.B. 15 May, 1969 [28 June, 1968], No. 24857/69. Heading G4H. The setting of a register 12, Fig. 1, in an office machine, or the like, is converted into electric signals by an arrangement of flexible wires 30 positioned by members 14 of the register so as to block, or not block, a circular array of holes 34 which are scanned photo-electrically by a con. tinuously rotating light-guide. The members 14, of which there are five for each decimal denomination of the register-four binary bits and a parity bit-carry projections 16, Fig. 2, which are sensed by pivoted 28 followers 26 to position the wires 30. Each wire either blocks, or unblocks a hole 34, and these are scanned by a rotating pair of light-guides 72, 76 and a stationary photo-electric cell 40. The wires 30 only co-operate with alternate holes 34 of the circular array of holes. The remaining holes are therefore always open and provide clock pulses. Certain of the holes may be permanently closed to provide a pattern of signals indicative of the particular register being read.
