1289804 Jointing FAGERSTA AB 19 April 1971 [13 March 1970] 26238/71 Heading B3V [Also in Divisions B4-B5] In an extrusion die, wherein plastics extrudate, e.g. P.V.C., issuing from a plurality of orifices is cut at the die face by a knife (not shown), the orifices are each defined, through a steel dieplate, by harder cemented carbide metal inserts around which the steel die-plate is shrunk to fix them in position, and which decrease in external dimensions in the extrusion direction to avoid separation from the die-plate under the extrusion pressure. The insert may be of cylindrical stepped configuration with a shoulder facing the upstream extrusion direction, Fig. 4 (not printed), but in the Figs. 1 and 3 embodiment are externally of frusto-conical configurations, and open out from an annular die-plate recess 6, the outlet of the orifices being in a portion of the die face which is raised from the die-plate, over the region opposite the recess 6, to allow for wear during cutting at the die-face.
