Abstract

1294704 Splitting machines LUIGI RIZZI & C SpA 9 Oct 1970 [14 April 1970] 48103/70 Heading B4B A machine for splitting skins 3 comprises a resiliently covered roller formed by a series of adjacent, separate coaxial discs or disc-like divisions 6a-6n each having at least a resilient peripheral surface, the discs being arranged to coact with radially-displaceable rings 4a-4n forming a roller which in use, presses against the flesh or inside of a skin thereby causing the outside of the skin to be pressed against a conveyer roller 1. The resiliently covered roller may be formed from a cylinder e.g. of rubber, mounted on a roller 5 and provided with grooves in-order to separate the cylinder into rings. As shown, the roller is formed by separate rubber rings being spaced on and secured to the roller shaft; the rings may be formed from a hard material and peripherally covered with rubber. The rings 4a-4n are loosely mounted on a shaft 10 and held together axially by means of nuts 13, Fig. 2, so that they can slide individually transversely of the shaft 10, such movement being controlled by guides (11, 12), Fig. 3 (not shown). The shaft may be moved axially by means of an adjustable stop 15 in order to align the rings with the discs.
