Abstract
1294959 Direct connections EASTMAN KODAK CO 26 Feb 1970 [3 March 1969] 9252/70 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] An electrophotographic element comprises a conducting support or a supported conducting layer bearing a photo-conductive layer and having an earthing layer comprising a conducting lacquer comprising a dispersion of conductive particles in a polymeric binder, along at least one edge. The conductive particles may be carbon, graphite, silver or nickel. In an embodiment, a photo-conductive layer is coated on a support comprising a layer of the sodium salt of a carboxyester lactone on a cellulose acetate film to give an electrophotographic member and the edge of the member coated at 13 with a mixture of carbon, graphite, a surfactant and a polyester in methylene chloride. The polyester is derived from dimethyl terephthalate, 2-nbutyl – 2 – ethyl – propane – 1,2 – diol ethylene glycol and pyromellitic anhydride, but many other binders are specified as are solvents for the conducting lacquer. Other conducting supports are specified. An adhesive may be used to bind the photo-conductive layer to the conductive support. The earthing layer may be connected directly to earth or an earthing plate (Fig. 4, not shown).
