Abstract

1295493 Absorbent pads GEORGIA-PACIFIC CORP 8 June 1970 27514/70 Heading A5R [Also in Division A3] An absorbent pad 10 comprises first and second absorbent layers 12, 14, the first having a smaller area than the second, and a liquidresistant layer 16 between said absorbent layers and having a smaller area than said second absorbent layer 14. The pad preferably includes liquid dispersant layers 18, 26 and a cover 20. Suitable materials for the pad are as follows: for absorbent layers 12, 14 non- woven cellulosic material which may include particles of non-cellulosic substances such as starches, gums and albumins; for resistant layer 16 and an outer portion 24 of cover 20 non-woven cellulosic fibre with a liquid repellant coating, or a perforated plastics sheet; for dispersant layers 18, 26 a creped sheet of cellulosic fibres having a higher capillarity than layers 12, 14; for inner portion 22 of cover 20 non-woven, non-wettable material such as rayon fibres.
