Abstract
1295568 Alternative movement windows and doors; hinges K SCHINDLAUER 19 April 1971 [3 April 1970] 25893/71 Headings E1J and E2F In an alternative movement door or window, e.g. swingable about an axis on either vertical side or on the top or bottom of the frame, the wing and main frames 14, 10 are made of plastics and have integral hinge parts 11, 13 on at least two sides of the frames, each part 11 having a bore 12 therethrough which accommodates hinge pin 1 guided in a sleeve 2 inserted in the bore 12 and the pin housing a screw nut 4 which is engaged by a threaded spindle 6 driven by an electro-motor 5 or alternatively the screw may be fixed in the sleeve and the nut driven by the electromotor, so that the pin 1 may be advanced into the bore 15 of the part 13 and retracted therefrom, whereby, the pins so operated and advanced on one side of the window only from the swing axis for the wing, but if so operated on at least two sides of the window the pins function as locks. Channels 17 are provided for accommodating the power cables &c so the motor 5 and a slit 16 receives the key-like projection 9 to secure the sleeve and hinge against rotation. Electrical switches 19 in the outer casing enable the effective hinge side to be selected.
