Abstract
1295819 Pole climbing device W F PRICE R W COOPER and R A GATES 17 Sept 1971 [18 Feb 1971] 43403/71 Heading A6M A pole climbing device comprises as an integral unit, a generally U-shaped metal gripping member 1 comprised of an outer gripping bar 4, an inner gripping bar 3 and a rear gripping bar 5 all in a common plane and having there gripping surfaces generally rounded, a rigid metal foot plate 7 integrally connected at its inner edge to the bar 3 and attachment means 11, 12 on the foot plate for foot fastening elements 23, 24, the foot plate forming an angle of 5 to 30 degrees with the plane of the U-shaped member and at least the gripping surfaces of the gripping bars 3, 4, 5 being provided with a coating of non- metallic resilient material. Opposing attachment means 17, 18 for fastening elements 25, 26 are provided on the inner gripping bar 3. Preferably the integral unit is of aluminium and is wholly coated with a vinyl plastics material.
