Abstract

1297083 Orientating sweets KOMBINAT NAGEMA VEB 23 June 1970 30413/70 Heading B8S Sweets 15, initially in random orientation and to be sorted into equal spacing in single file, are fed by a vibrating shoot 16 to a rotating table 1. The latter is surrounded by a fixed wall 2, the periphery of the upper edge of which varies in height uniformly from a minimum (L.H., Fig. 1), to a maximum (R.H., Fig. 1). The wall 2 is surrounded by a resilient ring 3 which is guided to follow the periphery of the wall 2 by the action of a circumferentially-positioned series of rollers 5 each having grooves 4. The latter engage an outer beading formed on the ring 3 which is given a rotary movement by two of the rollers 5 being driven. Above the ring 3 is a further fixed wall 7 having a radius greater than the outer periphery of the ring 3 by an amount equal to the width of a sweet 15. The latter are carried round by the table 1, and are brought by friction and centrifugal force against the wall 2 in to the position shown in Fig. 5, moving towards the low part of the wall. Any which are orientated with their longitudinal axis vertically disposed are displaced by a deflector member 18. The sweets then pass on to the upper annular surface of the ring 3, and any that are radially aligned are knocked back on to the table 1 by a deflecting member 91. They then pass under a resilient plate 23 (Figs. 3 and 4), and as they come out from beneath the latter, they are engaged by pushers formed by bristles carried in moving holders on a chain 12 passing around sprockets 13, 131. These are shown in Fig. 3, but are shown only by dot-dash lines in Figs. 4 and 5. The bristles may be augmented by the action of opposed endless belts 22, 22. The sweets 15 are thus fed into engagement with recesses 11 of an outer ring 10. The latter takes them round until they are removed from the recesses by opposed endless belts 20. Any sweets on the ring 10 which do not engage in the recesses 10, are swept back to the plate 1 by a brush roller 25. A scanning device 17 controls the feed of the shoot 16.
