1300002 Ventilating units; plate heat exchangers MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 16 March 1970 [20 March 1969 30 April 1969 (3) 8 May 1969 12 May 1969 15 Aug 1969 20 Aug 1969 4 Nov 1969] 12560/70 Headings F4S and F4V Ventilating apparatus comprises a housing 12 mounted in a wall of a room, a motor vehicle or an air conditioning unit, a fresh air inlet fan 48s and a room or car air exhaust fan 48e of the centrifugal or transverse-flow type and a heat exchanger 20 which includes flat laminations of a material which is heat conductive and moisture permeable, and spacers between adjacent laminations to define air flow gaps, alternate gaps communicating with the fresh air inlet fan and the remaining gaps with the exhaust air fan. The laminations may be made of Japanese paper containing synthetic fibrous material and the spacers are made of Kraft or Kent paper. Filters 44 and 46 are provided. The laminations may be rhombic or circular, the air flow streams may intersect in the heat exchanger 20 at an angle other than 90 degrees and the spacers may be of triangular, rectangular or sinusoidal waveform. A panel 14 of the housing 12 may be removable to provide access to or for removal of the heat exchanger 20.
