1305133 Reforming naphtha UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 1 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 21028/70 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Hydrocarbons are converted by contact with H 2 at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst comprising 0À01-2À0 wt. per cent of a platinum group metal which is substantially all in elemental form, 0À01-5À0 wt. per cent of germanium which is substantially all in a higher oxidation state than the metal, 0À5-10 wt. per cent of a halogen and a porous carrier. In examples a Pt-Ge-Cl on γ-alumina catalyst is used in the reforming of a heavy naphtha to give a C 5+ product at 517-566C., LHSV of 1À5-3À0, 6À8-34 atm. g. and a molar ratio of H 2 : hydrocarbon of 8-10 : 1.
