Abstract
1306664 Clamps M PASBRIG 18 Jan 1971 [19 Jan 1970] 2285/71 Heading E2B A rope clamp comprises one or more clamping members 1, the or each of which has a clamping surface 2 and a rear portion with a projection, accommodated within a housing having an inclined surface 14 along which the rear portion is slidable, and an actuating sleeve 8 slidable along and actuating the clamping members or member. Each member has a serrated gripping surface 2 and an extended portion whose end engages in. a slot 7 in the actuating sleeve. The sleeve is urged forwardly to engage the clamping surfaces with the rope by a spring 9 and the clamping surfaces are urged apart by a spring 12. The sleeve is manually operated to clamp or release rope 3 which is inserted in the housing through an end aperture 13. Alternatively the housing has a side opening for inserting the rope and the ends of the clamping members extend into slots in a U shaped slide 16 urged forwardly by two springs 17 and manually operated by external lugs 19 or a sleeve connected to the member. The clamp may be made of plastics. The clamp may comprise more than two clamping members or only one clamping member.
