Abstract
1310343 Pulse radar MARCONI CO Ltd 2 June 1970 [11 Aug 1969] 40076/69 Heading H4D A radar has means for only displaying a target if an echo therefrom is preceded by at least one other received signal occurring at a time corresponding to a previous echo from the target, the two echoes being due to one sweep of the radar beam. In a ship-borne pulse radar, video signals are passed to a gated amplifier 6 whose second input comes from a shift register 12. The register input is fed from a bi-stable 8 which is operated first by a received video signal and then by the next clock pulse from generator 9. At each transmitter pulse, clock generator 9 produces a predetermined number of shift pulses for the register 12 which has the same number of stages as said predetermined number. Amplifier 6 only passes a video signal to PPI 7 if it coincides with a signal from shift register 12 which delays the previous received signal by the pulse repetition period. A switch is also provided to continuously open-gated amplifier 6 when the ship is in open water.
