Abstract

1331730 Thio group-containing compounds FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 60474/71 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of a thio groupcontaining compound comprises reacting a sulphenamide with a compound having a reactive methyl or methylene group. This latter compound is defined as one having at least one electronegative group which is attached adjacent to either a -CH 2 – or -CH 3 group in the molecule. Suitable electronegative groups are those of the formula -COR4, -CONHR4, -CONR4R5, -SO 2 R4, -SO 3 H, -SO 2 OR4, -SO 2 NR4R5, -CN or -(NR4R5R6)+ wherein R4, R5 and R6 each represent a (C 1 -C 18 ) substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or olefinically unsaturated aliphatic radical, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl radical or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical, or two of R4, R5 and R6 together form a saturated 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing ring. The reaction is preferably carried out at a temperature of from 5‹ to 80‹ C. in the presence of a basic substance. Several novel compounds which may be prepared by the method of the invention are described.
