Abstract

1341283 HVDC power transmission ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 19 April 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 20399/71 Heading H2F In an HVDC converter station having at least two parallel converters each having devices to limit their control angles, connections are provided for balancing current distribution between the two converters when the limit value device for at least one converter becomes active and including means for supplying signals which influence the control system of the other converter in the event of a difference occurring between an operating magnitude in the two converters. As shown, a pair of inverters 60, 70 are fed in parallel from a HVDC line supplied by a pair of parallel-connected rectifiers (not shown) and controlled by pulse generators 61, 71 in dependence on the difference between line current (measured at 65, 75) and desired current (inserted at 8). Margin angle control devices 68, 78 are included. When one control device 68, 78 senses a low margin angle, it emits a pulse to both inverters 60, 70 so that they both commutate together and tend to equalize their currents. Alternatively the current difference may be detected at 67 and fed via polarity-discriminating diodes 66, 76 to the margin angle control device 68, 78 of the appropriate inverter 60, 70. In this case, AND gates must replace the OR gates 69, 79. Phase shifters 64, 74 may be included to compensate for differing phase angles in the two inverters 60, 70.
