1342253 Matrix displays RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 22 Dec 1971 [24 Dec 1970] 61331/70 Heading G5C A display device comprises a pile of laminae, selected laminae 3 having grooves 14 containing light guides extending from the front to the rear faces of the pile, in the front face the ends of the guides are grouped to form symbols or parts thereof and in the rear face the ends of each group are arranged together to be illuminated by a single light source 17. Where light guides cross the groove of one is deepened and matching protrusions formed in the adjacent lamina to maintain a constant height groove, the protrusions being cut away at the cross over point.
