1348044 Filaments and films of acrylonitrile polymers BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 25092/71 Heading C3P Vacuole-free filaments and films are composed of a mixture of (a) 99À5-96% by weight of acrylonitrile homopolymer or a copolymer containing at least 80% by weight of bound acrylonitrile and (b) 0À5-4% by weight of a copolymer of 80-20 mol. per cent acrylonitrile and 20-80 mol. per cent N,N-dimethylacrylamide. Component (a) may include up to 20% by weight of a comonomer component such as methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, vinyl acetate, styrene, vinyl chloride or vinylidene chloride, and up to about 1% by weight of a dye-receptive monomer component such as styrene sulphonic acid, an ethylenically unsaturated disulphonimide, vinyl pyridine, dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate or an ethylenically unsaturated sulphobetaine. The filaments and films can be processed from solutions of the polymer mixtures in solvents such as dimethyl formamide, dimethyl acetamide, ethylene carbonate, γ-butyrolactone, dimethyl sulphoxide and hexamethyl phosphoric acid triamide.
