Abstract
1352221 Tensioning webs EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970] 24553/71 Heading B8R [Also in Division G2] In a web handling apparatus, e.g. a cine projector, a tension isolator includes a driven member 11, around which the web passes, driven by a drive member, e.g. a pulley 14. The drive and driven member have a degree of contact determined by the web tension forces T 1 , T 2 and the drive member is driven at such a speed that slippage occurs between the members. As shown the members are pulleys 11, 14 and the area of contact is on the outside of the member 11. Variation in contact between the pulleys 11, 14 is permitted by pivoting arm 12. In other embodiments (not shown) the drive member may contact the inner surface of a hollow driven pulley or the drive member may be a belt wrapped around the driven pulley but axially separated from the web. Such tension isolators may be employed on either side of the picture gate of a projection in a manner similar to that disclosed in Specification 1,341,758.
