Abstract
1353902 Panelled cladding D McKNIGHT 29 April 1971 [29 April 1970 3 Sept 1970] 20607/70 and 42214/70 Headings E1B and E1W Extruded or moulded plastics or metal panels 10 are fixed to a building structure 13 by’ engagement of a longitudinally extending hooklike member 23 adjacent one edge over a corresponding member 11 or 12 fixed to the structure 13. A similarly orientated hook-like member 24 adjacent the opposite edge engages over an edge formation 25 on the one edge of an adjacent panel locking it in position. Longitudinally extending bead 28 and groove 29 formations may be provided to weather seal the overlap in an extenal cladding. Laterally adjacent panels may be joined by a loose tongue resiliently engaging in angled grooves to form a drainage gutter. Alternatively joining may be effected by a plastics H-section strip which bridges adjacent panels leaving a gap for the accommodation of thermal expansion. The cladding may be used in walls, roofs ceilings or floors. When used in a ceiling the hook like members attached to the building structure may be fixed directly to overlying floor joists or may span across the walls as beams.
