Abstract
1354239 Valves BERTIN & CIE 27 April 1972 [27 April 1971] 19636/72 Heading F2V An expansion valve has a sleeve 7 controlling flow through helical arrays of perforations 3 in a tubular seal 2 integral with a threaded rod 4 supporting a nut 17 which may provide an adjustable stop for the sleeve 7, when the latter is raised by operating spindle 24 and rods 8, or which may be used to hold the end 13 of the sleeve against seat 12. Nut 18 provides a stop for nut 17 and includes a hinged catch 20 engageable with handwheel 17a to prevent rotation thereof. The valve has a double-walled housing 43, 45 and sound insulation 44. Spindle 24 is operable manually or under servo-control. When the stop mechanism is omitted, the sleeve may be controlled by a servomechanism mounted at the top of the valve. A modified sleeve has an exterior conical surface at its lower end co-operable with a plane seat.
