1359932 Flocculating LUBRIZOL CORP 21 March 1972 13235/72 Headings C1A and C1C [Also in Divisions C2 C3 and D2] Polymers of compounds of the formula in which each of R1, R2 and R3 is hydrogen or hydrocarbon which may be substituted; each of R4 and R5 is hydrocarbon which may be substituted; R7 is hydrogen or C 1-10 alkyl; Y is X is an equivalent of an anion; Z1 is hydrocarbon which may be substituted; Z2 is alkyl or cycloalkyl, or -NZ1Z2 is heterocyclic; and Z3 is C 1-10 alkyl, or their interpolymers with vinyl monomers are useful as flocculants for the precipitation of substances from water or sewage. Tests flocculate kaolin from suspension and treat raw sewage.
