Abstract
1361560 Screw-and-nut mechanism R WILKE 28 Sept 1972 [4 Oct 1971] 44812/72 A recirculating ball nut has a cross-over insert 2 provided with a channel 4 of rectangular crosssection extending between two adjacent threads of the nut and recesses forming discontinuities in the side walls of the thread of the nut are located at the ends of the channel 4 so that as the balls enter and leave the channel 4 they make simultaneous contact at a point 8 on the side wall 4a of channel 4, a point 11 on an insert 5 in the bottom of channel 4 and a point 10 on the boundary of the recess. At each end of the channel 4, a side wall 4a is angled so as to have a part 12 parallel with the adjacent wall of the thread of the nut.
