1365580 Oxidation catalyst KNAPSACKAG 2 Nov 1972 [19 Nov 1971 (2)] 50561/72 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] An oxidation catalyst of formula supported on silica is produced by impregnating a porous silicic acid carrier at least once up to its maximum liquids absorption power with one or more aqueous solutions, evaporating solvent after each impregnation and finally drying at 100-300‹C and calcining at 450- 900‹C. The catalyst has a surface area of 3 to 40 m2/gm. A suitable carrier has a pore volume of 0.2 to 2.5 ml/gm and a particle size of 1 to 10 mm or 10 to 500 microns.
