Abstract
1365741 Cabinets SPERRY RAND CORP 7 June 1972 [17 Sept 1971] 26555/72 Heading A4B A heat resistant filing cabinet 10, e.g. for magnetic tape or microfilm 18, houses one or more drawers 14 including a box-like container 17 provided in its hollow walls with a filler 44 including sodium acetate trihydrate into which a heat conducting metal plate 60 extends, whereby when the cabinet 10 is subjected to intense external heat the filler 44 reduces to a molten state and, due to the high latent heat of fusion of the filler 44, the interior of the container 17 is maintained at the comparitively lower melting point, e.g. 137‹F, of the filler. The cabinet walls and the container walls surrounding the filler 44 contain heat insulating material. The container 17 is fitted with a lid 24 which is retained in the cabinet when the drawer is pulled out. The lid 24 has a sealing gasket 25 and heat getting past the gasket 25 is conducted into the filler 44 by the metal plate 60.
