Abstract

1367832 Delivering sheets WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 15 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 12153/72 Heading B8R In an apparatus for forming stacks of workpieces 1 from an overlapping, continuously advanced stream thereof, e.g. when a stack of a required number has been formed, the leading workpieces of the stream are stopped whilst the stack is removed, the overlapping of the stream being retained during this period. An overlapping stream on a continously movable endless belt 2 passes between overhead belts 20 on a pivotable and adjustable frame 17, and a roller 14 to a continuously or intermittently movable stacking belt 3, the stack being formed against a pivotable front stop 9 whilst the lowermost workpiece is additionally held in position by a suction head 12. On a signal from a counter, the belts 20 and roller 14 are magnetically braked thereby arresting the workpieces therebetween and causing the stream to pile up in overlapped formation against the belts 20 as shown in Fig. 1. At the same time, the stop 9 is raised, the suction is cut off from head 12 and the stack 5 removed as shown. The motion head may be dispensed with and an intermediate belt (32) Fig. 2 (not shown) running faster than belt 2 may be provided. Spring urged rollers (37), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be provided on the belts 20.
