Abstract

1371414 Ultrasonic intruder detector SONTRIXInc 9 Aug 1972 [13 Aug 1971] 37140/72 Heading H4D [Also in Division G4] An intruder alarm system comprises: means 11 for generating sound waves in an area to be protected; a plurality of sensors 81 for detecting echo signals; a plurality of amplifiers 83 for amplifying the signals from respective sensors; and means for combining the outputs from the amplifiers to produce a signal for actuating an alarm 91. An oscillator 11 has its frequency determined by the parameters of a transducer 15 coupled to it at 17 and also drives two further transducers 15 via a driver stage 13. The reflected signals from protected area 10 are picked-up by the sensors 81 and, after amplification are summed on lines 101, 103 to provide an input to amplifier 87 which is arranged to reject any common mode signals. The output of the amplifier is then fed to unit 89 which, in order to minimize false alarms, selects only low frequency beat signals and passes them to a diode pump detector to produce a signal to operate an alarm relay 241. The level of the output may be tested by operating a switch (231, Fig. 6, not shown). (For Figure see next page.)
