Abstract
1374229 Electronic fuel injection systems for I C engines NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 5 June 1973 [7 June 1972] 26692/73 Heading G1N In an electronic fuel injection system of a rotary internal combustion engine, a plurality of fuel injection valves 18a, 18b are sequentially actuated by pulses for a duration determined in dependence upon at least one engine operating parameter, the sequential actuating pulses being generated by a control device 5 which receives sequential pulses from an engine driven triggering device 3 and control pulses from a computing device 4. As shown, the triggering device 3 includes a pair of contacts 32, 33 operated by a cam 31 mounted on a cam-shaft 31′ which is coupled to the engine crank-shaft 13 so as to rotate at half the speed of the crank-shaft, the contacts 32, 33 being alternately opened and closed for 90 degree rotations of the cam 31. During the period that the contacts are closed, a pulse is applied at OUT 2 of the device 3, and during the period that the contacts are open, a pulse is applied at OUT 1 of the device 3. The computing device 4 includes computing means 41 which receives a signal i from the ignition switch 46 via a main switch 47 and a signal from at least one of a throttle opening sensor 42, an engine speed sensor 43 and converter 43′, an intake pipe pressure sensor 44, and an engine temperature sensor 45, e.g. a thermistor. The output of the computing means 41 is applied to one input of two AND gates 51, 52, the second input of AND gate 51 being connected to OUT 1 and the second input of AND gate 52 being connected to OUT 2 . The injection valves 18a, 18b are thus sequentially energized by the outputs of AND gates 51, 52, amplified by amplifiers 53, 54. More than two sequentially energized injection valves may be provided.
