Abstract
1389159 Skiving apparatus MASCHINENFABRIK MOENUS AG 21 Aug 1973 [28 Aug 1972] 39470/73 Heading B4B The longitudinal curvature of the gauge cylinder 1 of a skin splitting machine of the kind employing a band knife, is adjustable by cam means acting on the end bearings of the cylinder and on counter pressure cylinders engaging the gauge cylinder. In one arrangement, cams 7, 14, 15 are mounted on rods 8 slideable in the gauge cylinder support beam 2 by piston and cylinder devices 18 having limit stops 19 and bend indicators 20. The cams 7 engage followers on rods 4 connected to the end bearings 3 of the gauge cylinder 1 to keep them down against the bias of springs 6 and the remaining cams engage rods 13 carrying the bearings of counter pressure rollers 9, 10. Adjacent bearings 12 of the rollers 9 are adjustably connected directly to the support 2. The centre of the cylinder 1 is located by a yoke 16. The rods 8 may be interchangeable with others having different cam formations to produce curvatures suited to different hides. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 14 (not shown), the cams are arranged on rotatable shafts.
