1395393 Metal pouring apparatus E BUHRER 20 April 1972 [21 April 1971 17 Aug 1971] 18473/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] A tundish is supported separately from a mould below a ladle. The tundish has a vertical circular passage closed by a floor sloping down to an elongated outlet passage laterally offset from the tundish mouth. The outlet passage has a greater throughflow cross-section at its inlet end than its outlet end and bends between the inlet and outlet ends so that the outlet end is at a greater inclination to the horizontal than the inlet end. Further elongated outlet passage may be arranged around the tundish circumference. For the addition of inoculants, a receptacle can be provided above the tundish.
