Abstract
1395831 Connector for coaxial cable AMP Inc 1 May 1973 [16 May 1972] 20616/73 Heading H2E An electrical connector 10 includes a contact member 14 for connection to outer stranded conductor 7 of coaxial cable 1 having inner conductor 3 and dielectric 5, said member 14 having sidewalls 24, 26 bearing lances 30, 32 extending inwards so that, when the ferrule is crimped about the cable, lances 30, 32, pierce the outer conductor 7, so that some of its strands are between a lance and a sidewall. In the embodiment shown there is also an outer insulating sheath 9 pierced by the lances and gripped by crimped sidewalls 24, 26. Contact members 12, 14 have contact parts 18 spaced radially from coaxially aligned ferrules 20, 22, and contact part 16. Ferrule 20 is crimped so that the serrations pierce dielectric 5 and engage inner conductor 3.
