Abstract

1398140 Indicating HANSON Ltd 25 Oct 1972 [1 June 1972] 49253/72 Headings G1J and G1W An indicating device comprises a rotatable shaft 52, a pinion 53 on the shaft, a support plate 76 fixed to the shaft for rotation therewith, and a dial 27 mounted on the support plate by means of lugs 78 on the support plate engaging slots 80 on the dial. The support plate is secured to a knurled portion 74 of the shaft 52. Each slot 80 is of L-shape or T-shape and each lug has a reduced stem portion 79 and an enlarged head 81, the dial being mounted on plate 76 by inserting the heads 81 through the enlarged portions 82 of the slots and then moving the dial laterally so that the reduced stem portions of the lugs enter narrow portions of the slots. The end of shaft 52 enters an aperture in the centre of the dial to prevent lateral movement of the mounted dial. The weighing machine shown comprises a base 10, a pair of primary levers 14 pivotally mounted at one end in slots 13 and resting on a plate 15 at the other end, a pair of secondary levers 16 pivotally mounted in slots 13 at one end and connected to levers 14 at the other end, each lever having a V-shaped notch 19, a knife edge metal hanger 20 in each notch 19, a platform 21, and four depending U-shaped brackets 22 on the platform 21, each bracket 22 having a V-shaped lower surface resting on a respective hanger 20. Plate 15 is biased upwardly by a spring 42 mounted on a pivotable post 43, and movement of plate 15 is transmitted to shaft 52 by an upstanding ear 62 on plate 15, a bell-crank 55, a rack 54 biased by a spring 59, and the pinion 53. The shaft 52 and dial assembly are mounted on a carriage 64 movably mounted on channel member 50 by means of pins 65 and slots 66. A threaded spindle 69 allows the position of the carriage to be adjusted to set the zero. The scale is viewed through a lens 26.
