Abstract
1398278 Seed planters INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 8 June 1972 [13 July 1971] 26787/72 Heading AID [Also in Division B8] A material dispenser for seed &c comprises a hopper and a delivery shoot which contains a control gate, an arm pivotally mounted on the shoot, a biasing member connected at one end to the arm and operatively connected at the other end to the gate, the connection of the biasing member to the arm being movable overcentre with respect to a line through the pivot axis of the gate and the connection of the other end of the biasing member. In the figures, control gate 32 is integral with arm 34 and both pivot on pin 35 which is integral with arm 37. Biasing member 41 is connected to arms 37 and 34 and as arm 37 is moved to the right in Fig. 4 through 180 the member 41 is first stretched and then relaxed as the arm 34 moves through 90 to close the gate 32. The gate is biased into both open and closed positions. As shown in Fig. 1, the shoot leads from a hopper 10 to a seed-planting drum 20 and the gate 32 prevents wastage of seed when drums are changed.
