Abstract
1421037 Valves NORDHYDRAULIC AB 8 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 6274/73 Heading F2V A valve assembly for controlling a reversible positive-displacement hydraulic motor 11, e.g. for hydraulic cranes, front end loaders and power shovels, comprises a directional control valve 17 associated with supply passages 21, 22, 25, drain passages 19, 20, 26, and transfer passages 23, 24 for directing actuating fluid to and from the motor via ports 28, 30. Moreover, the assembly includes check valves 29, 31, and valves 33, 39 which function as pressure relief anti-cavitation and drain valves. During operation with the pump P supplying pressure fluid to one end 14, 15 of the motor, the pressure differential across ports 28, 30 subjected to a slidable plunger 45 via passages 48, 49 or the pressure differential across passages 23, 24 subjected to the plunger 45 via passages shown in chain lines, causes the plunger to open the appropriate valve 33 or 39 to permit fluid to pass from the other end of the motor to drain. Excess movement of the motor piston due to heavy loading resulting in low pressure and incipient cavitation on the supply side of the motor piston, destroys the pressure differential and causes the valve to close thereby preventing cavitation. Excess pressure at port 28 or 30 forces the associated valve 33 or 39 to open without the assistance of the plunger 45, to relieve the pressure.
