Abstract
1432678 Aminoadamantane derivatives MERZ & CO 24 April 1973 [4 April 1973] 19435/73 Heading C2C Aminoadamantane derivatives of the general Formula (I) in which R 1 and R 2 are the same or different and each represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R 3 represents a methyl group or represents a morpholino residue, or their salts, are prepared by reacting N-(1-adamantyl)-1- haloacetamide or N-methyl, N-(1-adamantyl)- haloacetamide with a mono-alkali metal glycolate to give the #-hydroxy ether, the hydroxyl group is exchanged for halogen by treating with a halogenating agent and converting the halo substituent to the desired amine group. The conversion of the N-(1-adamantyl)-2-(2-haloethoxy)-acetamide to the desired aminoadamantane may be carried out by (a) treating with an amine of formula or (b) by reacting with postassium phthalimide and treating the N-(1-adamantyl)-2-(2-phthalimidoethoxy)-acetamide so formed with hydrazine. The products are used in pharmaceutical compositions.
