Abstract

1439206 Photo-electric photometer HOECHST AG 2 Oct 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 45986/73 Heading G1A A photometer for measuring toner concentration includes an incandescent bulb source 11, two cuvettes 3, 4 containing respectively a reference electro-photographic developer powder and a test developer powder and disposed at measuring stations 18, 17 and a photo-electric cell receiver 14; the source, receiver and measuring stations defining the apices of a tetrahedron and being inter-connected by bores 20, 21, 24, 25 in the aluminium casing block 2. In a preferred embodiment a rotatable paddle wheel 28 in a slot 27 in the block connects light tunnels 24 or 25 alternately between a respective measuring station 18 or 17 and the detector. The measuring stations and the bores are disposed so as to be mirror-symmetrical to the plane in which the centres of the source and the receiver are disposed and which is perpendicular to the straight line connecting the centres of the measuring stations. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) a second slot (40) extending parallel to the block 27 is provided, by means of which a shutter blade (42) therein may be adjusted to equalize minor assymmetries introduced during manufacture. The photometer may be applied for measuring colours, the solids content of liquids, or for fluorescence incitation.
