Abstract

1439918 Separating concrete slabs into articles REDPATH DORMAN LONG Ltd 31 Aug 1973 [1 Sept 1972] 40597/72 Heading B5A A cast concrete slab 13, after hardening around prestressed wires on a setting bed 10, is moved to a support structure 16 where it is divided into separate articles whilst a further slab is cast and then hardened on the setting bed. As described, a concrete slab is cast about prestressed wires on the stress- and setting-bed 10 (described in Specification 798,964) and when hardened, plates covering recessed rollers 12 are retracted so that the rollers 12 rise and move the slab on to support rollers 18. Opposing drive rollers 28, 30 having a rubber surface and rubber discs respectively, feed the slab 131 back over rollers 20 until a saw 24 can cut off a desired length to form a beam 1311. A ram (44) (see Fig. 2, not reproduced) moves to push the cut beam 1311 off the rollers 20 to a fork lifttruck, the ram movement serving to raise orthogonally arranged rollers 22. The remainder of the slab 131 is then cut into further beams 1311. A slab 13 that has meanwhile been cast and hardened on bed 10, is moved on to rollers 18 for similar cutting. Drive rollers 28, 30 are supported in trunnions (36), (38) (see Figs. 3, 4, not reproduced) for vertical movement on guides (40); the rollers are pulled together by hydraulic actuators (42) and can move apart to accommodate slab curvature. Roller 28 is driven. Rollers 20 and saw 24 can be accommodated at the far end (right) of support structure 16, and parallel setting beds and support structures can be operated simultaneously with a common ram (44) and saw 24 (see Fig. 5, not reproduced).
