Abstract
1447493 Coated styrene polymer film IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 10 Jan 1974 [1 Feb 1973] 5089/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] A light-transmitting coated film material is produced by treating the surface of a styrene homo-polymer or copolymer film with a solvent for the film, drying the surface, subjecting it to a corona discharge treatment, and coating it with a gelatin-containing layer. The film is of polystyrene or styrene/butadiene and/or acrylonitrile copolymer and may be biaxially oriented. The solvent is applied by dipping or roller coating and may be methyl ethyl ketone, toluene, 1, 1, 1-trichloroethane, acetone, methylene chloride, methyl acetate or ethyl acetate. A gelatin-containing anti-halation or light-sensitive layer, especially a gelatin-silver halide layer, may be applied either directly to the treated surface of the film, or after application of a gelatin subbing layer by dip, roller or shot coating of an aqueous or organic, solution of gelatin.
